FLASH BACK (TO SCHOOL) WITH RISING COUNTRY STAR PAYTON RAE!

What were you most excited about returning to school every year? Actually, this is the first time that I won’t be there when school starts up again. Since I’m splitting my time between Nashville and Houston now due to my music, I decided to start homeschooling in the middle of last year. But, in the past, I always looked forward to going back to school to of course see all my friends but to also meet new people and learn new things.

Describe your favorite "first day" of school memory? My favorite first day of school memory would have to be my first day of 5th grade, because being a fifth grader at the elementry school I attended all my life meant you and everyone else in the 5th grade were the "top dog" of the school!

Do you have any advice on reuniting with school friends after spending the summer apart? The advice I would give would be to be friendly to everyone, even if you felt that you have grown apart from some people. You can always come back together. That’s always the best feeling:  to get close again with some of your friends you havn't seen much over the summer.

What type of student are/were you in school? I was a straight A student and always wanted to set a good example for everyone at school. I never wanted to be a follower - I wanted to be a leader.

Who is your favorite teacher? My favorite teacher was Mrs. Gram from my 9th grade year. She was my math teacher. Math was always my favorite subject but having Mrs. Gram as my math teacher only made it that much more enjoyable. She was very helpful and supportive of everyone. She loved her job and the students.

What is your favorite school memory? My favorite school memory was competing in my first school talent show in the eighth grade!

What was the first thing you wanted to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be a singer. The cool thing is that right now I’m in the midst of chasing that dream, which is the most amazing expierience.

Do you remember the first "A" you received on a school assignment? I really can’t remember my first "A," but scoring "A's" on big exams were the best.

Do you have any tips on how to study for quizzes, tests and exams? I always made study sheets whether it was on a piece of paper or on notecards. I would study it for as long as I needed to, then I would ask my parents to quiz me. That really helped me out.

Did you participate in any after school activities? I played volleyball for my school. Volleyball has always been my favorite sport.

Can you give our readers any back-to-school fashion tips? My tip would be to be yourself and dress like yourself. Never be anyone but who YOU are.

You are working with the national program STOMP Out Bullying on their October 3rd “BLUE SHIRT DAY™ - WORLD DAY OF BULLYING PREVENTION” to raise awareness for this cause – why did you decide to do that? I love helping people. Thats one of my biggest passions! When STOMP Out Bullying wanted me to be apart of their organization I was so happy. I had a problem with being bullied in junior high and I know how bad it hurts, and I’m sure many other kids have been in the same situation. I can't wait to be part of the October 3rd "Blue Shirt Day"!
